Medicinal Juice

I learned this juice recipe a couple years ago when I was reading David Wolfe's book "Raw Beauty". At the time I had developed vitiligo on my inner thigh and it was starting to spread. This book said that many skin, stomach and intestinal problems are caused by a lack of hydrochloric acid. This juice seemed to be the solution to help so many issues from vitiligo to arthritis. Here are some of the things each individual ingredient can help with. Even if you don't use this recipe, maybe you will find a combo your body would benefit from whether you eat it raw or juice it!

Celery contains two special compounds called luteolin and polyacetylene that help inflammatory diseases like arthritis, osteoporosis, and gout. Drinking celery juice helps neutralize the acid, alkalize the body and balance its pH. This cancer-fighting food is full of antioxidants that help cleanse and detox the body and is recommended for treating kidney stones.

Spinach provides your body with many essential nutrients. It also works exceptionally well as a blood tonic and purifier to prevent a wide range of health problems. Not only can it help reduce the risk of decline in brain function as we age, it can help to improve memory. Some studies have shown that spinach not only helps to prevent many different kinds of cancer, it also possibly cures some forms of cancer.

Swiss chard is a plant that has a long history of being revered for its nutritional and medicinal qualities. Both the ancient Greeks and Romans honored these deep green leaves, using the juice as a decongestant. They also believed that the leaves could act as an antacid and a laxative.

Kale is a definite super food! It has such a wide array of vitamins and minerals that can help improve your health in many different ways. Kale has antioxidant health benefits which gives your body strong cancer fighting abilities. It is also high in vitamin K which plays an important role in keeping calcium retained in your bones and out of your arteries. Vitamin K is a key nutrient for helping regulate your body's inflammatory process. It's high calcium levels are responsible for maintaining the correct acid-alkaline balance in your body. Calcium is important for fighting osteoporosis, it is crucial for nerve conduction, it is important for energy production and your body’s immune function maintenance.

Lemons are rich in Vitamin C, which helps to build and repair blood vessels, tendons, ligaments and bone. Citrus fruits are also good sources of inflammation-fighting antioxidants. Adding lemon to your juice concoction or squeezing it into your water throughout the day can work wonders when it comes to pain relief. Lemons are actually the least acidic food on the pH scale and help your body become more alkaline.

Ginger has a long history of use for relieving digestive problems such as nausea, loss of appetite, motion sickness and pain. Recent studies have shown that ginger is more effective than ibuprofen for pain relief. My nurse even brought me ginger tea in the hospital to help me with my migraines.
